Venue: Asian Culture Station

Asian Culture Station is proud to present “Equinoctial” exhibition. This exhibition presents the works of Anurak Tunyapalit—an up-and-coming artist to watch. He graduated from Painting Division, the Faculty of Fine Arts Chiang Mai University, which kindled his interest in expressing his own abstractions. This has led to the experimenting works that question different tangible objects, resulting in many interesting works such as What did I do to the ants? (2016) and Can you see my painting? Yes I can’t. (2016).

And this time, the artist showcases the exhibition titled “Equinoctial” which will trigger the pain inside the heart of witnesses. In this show, the artist will take us to the temporary moment of the anniversary of violent incidents and loss—as if waking up for a split second to experience those incidents once again. At the same time, people on the other side of the world will also realize the extent of what happened in different time zones.

This exhibition is a part of Mini Shows Project, which invites artists or creators who do creative works from Thailand, Southeast Asia, and Japan to bring a conversation around an area where Asian Culture Station is located through an exhibition that is open to the public. It aims to increase variation in the optimization of space use as well as to build relationship and collaboration between the community around the area and the creative community. This project is an invitation for artists to create new works that are designed specifically for the featured area. This activity is organized once or twice a year. The first exhibition will begin on 4 December 2016 and will be held until 15 January 2017 at Asian Culture Station. Mini Shows Project will be held again in January 2017 by artists from Southeast Asia.
